Rebecca Ann Smith, age 77 of the Hot Springs Village, died September 30, 2018 in Little Rock, Arkansas. She was born May 30, 1941 in Cleburne, Texas to Raymon and Esteline McDearmon. She graduated from Cleburne High School and attended Arlington State University. Becky went to work for the State of Texas Welfare Department. After marrying her high school sweetheart, Robert Oren Smith, in 1961, she went to work for the General Services Administration in Fort Worth, Texas. After her husband went to work in Austin, Texas, she went to work for the Internal Revenue Service until the birth of their daughter, Shelley D’Ann , born in 1966; followed by the birth of their son, Robert Oren Smith, Jr (Chip), in 1969. She enjoyed staying home and doing volunteer work at school, church, the Blue Birds, and Cub Scouts.
She was a very active member of the Village Church of Christ in the Hot Springs Village where she served on the building committee, family life committee, packed food for kids and made bears for the hospitals and local sheriff’s department. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Robert O. Smith, daughter and son-in-law, Shelley and Mark Glasner; grandson Aaron James Glasner of Winnsboro, Texas. Also surviving are son and daughter-in-law, Robert O. and Lisa Smith; granddaughter, Riley Anne, and grandson Lane Robert of McKinney, Texas.
Services will be held at Village Church of Christ, Saturday, October 6, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor David Tappe officiating.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Cedar Vale – Serving the Village since 1989.
