Louis H Gabel III, age 66 passed away Wednesday, June 29, 2016 in Hot Springs Village, AR following a brief illness. He was born January 21, 1950 to Louis and Charlotte (Guetschow) Gabel in Beloit, WI.
Lou grew up in Roscoe, IL and went on to earn his Airframe & Powerplant degree in Aviation Maintenance. He served 8 years in the Navy from 1971-1979. Lou married his wife Pat in 1980 and soon joined Air Wisconsin in 1981 working as an Aircraft Mechanic for 25 years. For the next 10 years he worked as a greenskeeper at Wedgewood Supper Club & Golf Course until he retired. Lou lived in Appleton, WI for most of his life where he made many lifelong friends. He was an avid Packer fan and loved cheering them on from his end zone seat as often as he could. He loved all sports; bowling, golfing, and boating.
Lou and his wife Pat moved to Hot Springs Village, AR in 2012 where he retired. He spent many happy days hiking, golfing, and his favorite – traveling to visit his children and grandkids.
Lou is survived by his wife of 35 years, Patricia Gabel, his children; Louis Gabel IV (Corrie) of Bay City, MI, Melissa Robinson (Todd) of Henderson, NV, Michelle Kaas (Garrett) of Mt Juliet, TN, and Matthew Gabel (Keeley) of Kimberly, WI, his grandchildren; Allie, Kaleb, Bella, Ava, Layla, Owen, Lorelei, Cassidy, and the newest arrival this fall. He is further survived by his siblings Bruce Gabel (Vickie), Christine Gabel (Tim Brophy), Linda Vaughan (Joe), Joe Gabel (Linda), and Tom Gabel (Kim) along with many nieces and nephews.
Lou is preceded in death by his parents Louis H. Gabel (1997) and Charlotte M. Gabel (1998).
A visitation will be held at Wedgewood Supper Club & Golf Course 1200 E Huron St, Omro WI 54963 on July 11, 2016 4-7pm. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
